The Empty Night

After a devastating attack, a family is cut off from civilization. Now they are trying to establich contact wit other survivors – but how will they deal with what they’ll find in the process?

The Current Situation

On Ranul, it looks as though the war between the Rilanga and den Ran-E-Zu had finally ended. But sadly, it’s hard to tell at what cost… Communication with the outside world has broken down, and the Op family doesn’t know if it’s safe to leave the shelter.

Their friends and relatives could still be out there… But this close to the border, there could also be people from the enemy side. While securing their own survival, seven persons have to agree on the smartest way to proceed.

My Plan

This is meant to be a practice piece for the bigger project, “Shifting Colors.” Like that one, it is meant to be based on point-and-click adventures, and the branching narrative is meant to be a central element.

However, while working on it, I realized that the biggest challenge is not the technical implementation, but first and foremost the the question of what story is supposed to be told. To complicate matters further, a branching narrative is harder to plan than a linear story.

This is why both projects are currently on hold so that I can hone my storytelling skills.
